John Carroll Kirby is a Grammy-nominated artist from Los Angeles. Having collaborated with artists including Solange, Steve Lacy, Frank Ocean, Harry Styles, Yves Tumor, Connan Mockasin, among others, Kirby has lately focused on his own solo work, releasing several albums on Stones Throw Records.

Kirby’s latest album is Blowout (2023). My Garden (2020), featured a blend of jazz and exotica. The same year, Kirby released Conflict, a calming piano album in response to the year’s chaos. Following his first film score for the animated feature Cryptozoo, Kirby’s 2021 jazz-fusion record Septet marked a return to ensemble playing, while Dance Ancestral (2022) took a more electronic-forward approach. In 2023, Stones Throw released Sundown, Kirby’s album-length collaboration with R&B singer Eddie Chacon.
