This may not specifically be written in the Bible, but I'm pretty sure you can find some Bible principles to back this up.

Amen. For he who mostly desires the love of Jesus and The Lord with all his heart and mind, keeps the commandments of God, will have joy for eternity

How about this one: Proverbs 30:8-9 (NLT) First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs. For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, “Who is the LORD ?” And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name.

If you compare yourself with others you lose opportunities. I learned that the hard way.

Theres always someone somewhere worst off. It's ok to better oneself, just dont be ungrateful for what you have already.

Something else not specifically written in the bible, but referanced by the lite of widow, and that is, justifying hurting others with the stone of subjective ( and, therefore, contextually unfair and invalid) comparison.

I have had much, I wasn't happy, I don't have much now, I'm a lot happier. I'm so grateful for what I have. I'm especially greatful I have Jesus in my life. It makes every thing else good no matter how little.
