Dallas Jenkins, born on July 25, 1975, is an American film and television director, writer, and producer¹. He is best known as the creator, director, co-writer, and executive producer of **The Chosen**, the first multi-season series about the life of Jesus of Nazareth¹. His career is focused on Christian media¹.
Jenkins' father is Jerry B. Jenkins, a Christian novelist best known for the Left Behind series¹. Dallas Jenkins graduated from the University of Northwestern-St. Paul in 1997, where he met his wife, Amanda¹.
At the age of 25, Jenkins and his mother started a production company, Jenkins Entertainment¹. Their first film was Hometown Legend, a faith-based film which was distributed by Warner Brothers in 2000¹. Jenkins is a former member of the Executive Leadership Team at Harvest Bible Chapel where he served as the executive director of Vertical Church Media¹.
Jenkins' feature-length directorial debut was Midnight Clear in 2006, which starred Stephen Baldwin and was distributed by Lionsgate². The film was based on a short story written by his father, Jerry Jenkins¹. In 2010, Jenkins directed What If…, a film about a businessman who is shown by an angel what his life could have become if he had followed God's calling for his life¹. It starred Kevin Sorbo, Kristy Swanson, John Ratzenberger, and Disney star Debby Ryan¹.
In 2017, Jenkins directed The Resurrection of Gavin Stone, a faith-based film that was produced and distributed to theaters in January 2017 with Blumhouse Entertainment, WWE Studios, and Walden Media². He is currently directing and producing The Chosen, the #1 highest crowd-funded media project of all time ($10m) and the first-ever multi-season show about the life of Christ².
