I think this might be the first time an album cover doesn’t have my face on it at all. Instead it has pieces of my history and pieces of my future. It’s like what I’ve been doing the past decade - trying to put fragments of memories and pictures of ancestors together so that I can see myself more clearly.

Thank you Destiny Keller for seeing my vision so clearly and for making me cry by crafting it so beautifully into the artwork for “Kin” 🥹

Also, on the back cover is my son Auden and my Aunt Michelle 🤍

I love this song so much and I love who I wrote it for so much too 🥲. Queer love is the best. There are no rules made by society for us, so there is a whole world of creativity and beauty and freedom just waiting for us. I love that I chose that world with her.

I’m emotional even writing this - this song wrecks me. Every time I listen to it, that bridge makes my chest feel full and my jaw tense with tears. I am not sure how to talk about this song. It’s about something I only feel comfortable talking about through music and lyrics. It’s private and personal and painful, and I’m so proud of myself for creating something that holds the enormity and the nuance of it. You can go through the lyrics and make of it what you will.
