A few years ago I was approached to do a movie soundtrack, and the first task I was given was to write a song for the final scene and end credits. When I found out the song was going to be about the sudden loss of a best friend, it sadly became all too easy to write from experience. I tried to find the right balance of loss, appreciation, confusion, and optimism... and as you can hear by the often overlapping vocals, those feelings for me were often simultaneous.
