Highland Broadsword - The Art of Defense:
Welcome to the Broadsword Academy Germany. We are an official certified school of the Cateran Society (cateransociety.wordpress.com). We practice and research the Art of Defense, the armed and unarmed combat styles of 18th Century Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England (with some extend from the 16th to 19th Century).
Our Curriculum is based on and inspired by historical manuals of Zachary Wylde (1711), Donald McBane (1728), Thomas Page (1746), Cpt. G. Sinclair (1790), Henry Angelo (1799), Thomas Mathewson (1805) and others. We train swordsmanship with Backsword/Smallsword (plus offhand weapons), Quarterstaff (as base of all twohanded weapons) and unarmed combat (Pugilism & Wrestling). Basing on this we explore weapons like Cutlass, Spadroon, Saber, Cudgel, Tomahawk, Dirk, Lochaber-Axe, Spontoon, Musket & Bayonet, Claymore and others).
